Antique wood paneling are those large ornate, inlaid, engraved or carved wooden panels that were once placed on the interior walls of rooms such as libraries and studies for decorative purposes, but mainly to improve thermal insulation and make rooms warmer. Widely used in 17th- and 18th-century France, some of the finest antique woodwork ever made can still be admired today at the Palace of Versailles. Toward the end of the 19th century, the use of wood paneling also spread to Italy, where it was known as lambrino, or lambrino frame. Today, these furnishings are undergoing a major reappraisal, the same reappraisal that has affected ancient construction techniques and building materials in general, and more and more high-end private, commercial, or professional interiors are making use of these decorations with their inimitable charm.

There are different versions of antique paneling, which can be used with different functionalities: not only as paneling, but also as custom solutions to delimit and separate spaces, equip walls or embellish interior doors. Simple, with relief decoration, inlays and frames, or painted, antique paneling is made of oak, fir, pine, or larch: fine materials that ensure durability and strength.
